- Free: 2 tests a day
How it works
- 1
Talk to the examiner
The examiner asks every question out loud, just like test day. You answer into your microphone: no typing, no reading.
- 2
We listen to every answer
Your answers are checked against the four IELTS criteria: fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.
- 3
Know what to fix
See your band, read what you actually said with each mistake marked, and get one clear tip per criterion.
Just like test day
Every mock test has all three parts of the Speaking test, with the same timings and the same kinds of questions.
- Part 14–5 minutes
Introduction
Short questions about you: your home, work or studies, and everyday life.
- Part 23–4 minutes
Long turn
A cue card, one minute to prepare and make notes, then up to two minutes of talking.
- Part 34–5 minutes
Discussion
Deeper questions linked to your Part 2 topic. Explain, compare and give opinions.
Feedback you can act on
Not just a number. Here's an example of what you'll see for one of your answers.
Part 2 · Describe a place you have visited that you would like to go back to.
Last summer I go1 to Cappadocia with my family. It was really amazing experience2, because we saw the balloons from very early in the morning3.
- 1.Grammar: This happened in the past. Try “I went”.
- 2.Grammar: “Experience” needs an article here. Try “a really amazing experience”.
- 3.Vocabulary: A shorter, more natural phrase scores higher. Try “at dawn”.
Fluency & Coherence
6.5You kept going with few long pauses, but often linked ideas with just “and”.
Try this: Use “that's why” and “on the other hand” to connect your reasons.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy
6.0A good mix of tenses, with some slips in past forms and articles.
Try this: Check the past tense when you tell a story: “I went”, not “I go”.
Meet your examiners
Each mock test is run by a different examiner, with British, Australian and American accents, so you get used to real voices. Tap one to say hello.
Questions
Is this the real IELTS test?
No. Mock Room is an independent practice tool that follows the format of the IELTS Speaking test: the same three parts, timings and kinds of questions. It isn't connected to IELTS, the British Council, IDP or Cambridge.
How accurate are the band scores?
They are estimates made by AI that look at the same four criteria examiners use. Use them to see your trend and what to work on, not as a promise of your real result.
Is it free?
Yes. While Mock Room is in early access, every account can take 2 full tests in any 24 hours, free.
What do I need?
A computer or phone with a microphone, a quiet room and about 15 minutes. Headphones help, so the examiner's voice doesn't reach your microphone.
What happens to my recordings?
They are stored privately in your account so you can listen back, and are only used to score your test. They are never used to train AI models. Our privacy policy explains the details.
